Garage Door Family technician setting the tension on a new torsion spring with winding bars
Winding a new torsion spring. Two bars, a quarter turn at a time. This is the job that puts people in the emergency room when they try it themselves.
Snapped torsion spring above a garage door with a visible gap in the coil
A snapped torsion spring. That gap in the middle of the coil is the whole problem — the opener is usually fine, it just has nothing helping it lift.
Garage door jammed halfway open at an angle on a brick home in the Houston area
Jammed halfway, car still inside. Crooked like this usually means a cable came off the drum on one side.
Garage Door Family technician re-seating a lift cable on the drum of a garage door
Cable back on the drum. Then re-tension both sides and run the door up and down until it tracks straight.
Two Garage Door Family technicians installing a new garage door with panels stacked on the driveway
A new door going in. Panels stacked, track set, opener last.
Before and after of a garage door opener replacement: an old worn opener and the new Chamberlain unit that replaced it
Opener swap, before and after. The old unit on the left, the new Chamberlain on the right. Same rail, same door.

“Yoel came out on a Sunday about an hour after I called. My garage door was stuck halfway open and he fixed the problem in about 45 minutes. He was professional, quick, and knew exactly what he was doing. The price was very reasonable. Now my garage closes properly again and my family feels safe. Highly recommend.”

Why Houston Garage Doors Fail When They Do

A garage door is the heaviest moving thing in most homes, and it runs several times every day without anyone thinking about it. Along the I-10 corridor it does that through long humid summers and the occasional hard winter cold snap — the swing that wears torsion springs, stiffens rollers and rusts cable ends. Springs are rated in cycles, not years, which is why a door that behaved perfectly for a decade can fail on an ordinary Tuesday morning with a car shut inside.

We work out of Katy and cover the metro from Cinco Ranch and the Grand Parkway east through the Energy Corridor into Houston, north to Spring and Tomball, and south into Sugar Land and Richmond. Most calls come down to the same handful of faults: a snapped spring, a door pulled off its track, a cable that jumped its drum, or an opener that simply stopped responding.

Our trucks carry the common parts, so the majority of these are finished on the first visit instead of booked in for a return trip. If your door is stuck, loud, crooked or dead, call and describe what it's doing — that's usually enough to tell you what's involved before anyone drives out.
